Surfing
At certain times of the year, the waves near Fort Point are large enough to allow the most stoic surfer the chance to get out and hang ten. Beware: the water is cold. On average the water temperature ranges from 53 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Without a wetsuit, most people will suffer from hypothermia. In addition, only skilled surfers need apply as large rocks lay just beneath the water.
A short time after I took this photograph, a San Francisco police boat arrived to tell the surfers to “get out of the water."
